Promontory MortgagePath is seeking a senior compliance officer to work in and help build the growing regulatory and compliance department in a start-up environment.  The successful candidate will also work with client mortgage operations, compliance and risk staff during the client compliance implementation process and ultimately be the Promontory MortgagePath compliance day to day lead for assigned clients.

Tasks could range from regulatory implementation, regulatory and compliance training, resolving consumer complaints, engaging in examination response, tracking compliance activities, maintaining policies and procedures, testing cutting edge compliance controls and digital mortgage origination technology, internal and external compliance reporting, monitoring and testing of applicable laws and regulations relevant to residential mortgage lending, and other activities in support of the development, implementation and ongoing performance of Promontory MortgagePath’s compliance management system. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client facing for compliance implementations (client mortgage operations, compliance and risk staff) and client compliance reporting
  • Compliance client onboarding lead; work with overall lead onboarding project managers
  • Respond to client compliance requests
  • Participate in compliance meetings with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Perform compliance testing, monitoring, and sampling
  • Determine root cause of issues and develop corrective action plans
  • Work with the quality control and vendor management departments
  • Draft and maintain policies and procedures
  • Develop training materials and provide training to staff
  • Develop and maintain call scripts
  • Set up and review test loan documents and disclosures; configure points and fees and usury compliance controls during the client onboarding process
  • Participate in the regulatory change management process
  • Research federal and state law
  • Draft and maintain policies and procedures
  • Respond to findings from secondary market due diligence and reviews
  • Draft, review and comment on internal memoranda and documents on compliance positions
  • Participate in federal and state examinations and developing examination responses (examinations could involve any federal or state residential mortgage lending regulatory bodies)
  • Occasional travel for client onsite visits and to other company offices

  • At least 7 to 10 years plus of prior experience in residential mortgage regulatory compliance, audit or other mortgage regulatory and compliance operations environment
  • Mortgage compliance related experience with automated compliance controls and loan origination systems
  • Former federal financial institution examiner background preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to residential mortgage operations is required (g., TILA, RESPA, TRID, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, HOEPA, UDAAP)
  • Strong working knowledge of mortgage loan production and associated operational requirements
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Juris Doctor degree preferred but not required
